Yield: [2 servings]
Prep time: [10 mins]
Total time: [20 mins]
Brace's XX thick bread | 4 slices - (you can use any thick bread you have)
Eggs | 2
Milk | 60 ml
Vanilla extract | ½ tsp
Cinnamon | 1 tbsp. - optional
Granulated white sugar | 85 g - optional
Oil | 1 tsp Butter | ½ tbsp.
Using a bread knife, cut the bread into thick fingers and set aside. In a shallow bowl or container, whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla extract. Dip both sides of the bread fingers into the egg mixture quickly, then place onto a lined baking tray; be sure to shake off any excess. Repeat this process until all the bread fingers have been soaked.
Heat a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Add the oil and butter into the pan then add in the fingers. Add in as many fingers that will fit in at a time. Fry the fingers until all sides are golden brown, flipping when necessary.
Serve your warm French toast fingers covered in maple syrup topped with your favourite berries. Add a sprinkle of icing sugar for extra flavour.
Tip!: Turn these French toast fingers into cinnamon sticks. In another large bowl or container, combine the sugar and cinnamon together and set aside. Toss the French toast fingers into the cinnamon and sugar mixture directly after removing them from the pan. - Delicious!
